Because I’m always looking for a good excuse to make cookies, I’ve been trying to give more of my baked goods away lately. But I’m a terrible grocery shopper {I don’t think I’ve ever gone to the store and actually purchased everything on my list } and I always forget to buy paper plates, so I never have anything to give my baked goods away on. And it’s just too embarrassing to show up on someone’s doorstep with a baggie of cookies, you know? So last summer I created some folded paper cookie, cupcake, brownie, and truffle boxes so I could put my old scrapbook paper to good use as treat packaging (downloadable templates here). But those were individual serving sizes – so recently I made a slightly larger folded paper cookie gift box that holds 6 large or 10 small cookies. Each box takes two pieces of 8.5×11 cardstock and is just plain cute.

I cut a circle out of the lid of each box and lined it with plastic cut from a plastic page protector (a transparency would work as well). This way you can see the cute treats inside. The adorable paper I used for these boxes is from A Muse Studio, a stamp company that carries all sorts of awesome stamps, ribbons, dies, and papers. They sent me some of their gorgeous printed cardstock to try out in scrapbooking, but I’m using it for cookie boxes instead 

When the box itself is so adorable, all you need is a little ribbon or twine to tie it shut. They even look cute with nothing but a strip of washi tape across the front.

To make one of these boxes, start with two pieces of 8.5×8.5 cardstock. (Final box dimensions are 4.5×4.5, which was perfect for packing up 10 2-in cookies. If you want a larger box, just start with a larger piece of paper, but be aware you may need to line the bottom of the box with cardboard for stability.)
